This week's TWID is very large, as it's the first of several outlining the vast systemic changes coming to the game with The Edge of Fate. We at the Low Sodium Blog have our work cut out for us, so let's get to it.
They began by highlighting the event that various Destiny YouTubers such as Datto and Fallout attended, where they got a hands-on preview of the upcoming expansion. Notably, articles informed by this event were written by PCGamer and ShackNews if you'd prefer to read. Some topics that these videos and articles cover are:
The new Kepler location, its new enemy types and its unique MatterSpark abilities
The Gear Tiering system, wherein weapons go from Tier 1 to Tier 5 and get drastically better the further in Tier they get
The more customizable difficulty system, allowing you to tune your activities to your liking and reach new heights of difficulty(namely Ultimate, a tier above Grandmaster)
The new Portal system, a UI overhaul where you'll be able to access what you need to level up more easily than ever
The Armor 3.0 rework, featuring a complete makeover of every armor stat in the game
A dedicated shooting range
Bungie then followed up this gallery of videos by addressing some FAQs:
Vault space is not changing in The Edge of Fate, but they have plans for later this year
Your current gear will still be viable within the new system, even for Contest Mode activities.
New weapon archetypes shown in the previews include a spread-shot hand cannon, a rocket-assisted pulse rifle, and a precision longbow
The Director is not going away, but their focus is on the Portal
There is a new currency called Unstable Cores which you get from dismantling high-level gear, which disappears at the end of each 6-month season. More system economy changes will be addressed in a later TWID.
Bungie then pivoted to talking about the new armor system. There is a lot to go over here. Firstly, the core six armor stats have been changed. Say hello to the new six stats, and what they used to be:
Mobility is now Weapons
Resilience is now Health
Recovery is now Class
Strength is now Melee
Discipline is now Grenade
Intellect is now Super
Each of these new stats will scale from 1-200; they function similarly to the old stats in the 1-100 range, but from 100-200, they will carry additional bonuses.
Here is a breakdown of what each stat will do in the 1-100 and 100-200 range.
Weapons
1-100: Improves reload and handling speed, improves damage to minor and major combatants(0-15% for primary and special, 0-10% for heavy)
100-200: Grants a chance for more ammo than normal in ammo bricks, improves damage versus bosses and guardians(same range of bonuses for PvE combatants, 0-6% Bonus damage against Guardians)
Health
1-100: Grants 0-70 healing when picking up an orb, grants 0-10 flinch resistance
100-200: Shields start recharging 0-25% more quickly and take 0-50% less time to recharge, 0-20 additional shields vs. combatants
Class
1-100: Improves base cooldown of class ability, improves amount of class energy gained from external sources
100-200: Grants a 0-40HP(0-10 in PVP) overshield on class ability use
Melee
1-100: Improves base cooldown of melee ability, improves amount of melee energy gained from external sources
100-200: 0-30% increased melee damage(includes powered, unpowered, and Glaive melee)
Grenade
1-100: Improves base cooldown of grenade ability, improves amount of grenade energy gained from external sources
100-200: 0-65% increased grenade damage
Super
1-100: Improves super energy gained from damaging targets, improves amount of super energy gained from external sources
100-200: 0-45% increased super damage
It's worth noting that, in this new system, there is no direct equivalent to Mobility, Resilience, and Recovery; when they go away, Bungie will set them to a fixed value for all players.
Mobility: fixed at 30 for Titans and Warlocks, 40 for Hunters(there will be new leg armor mods to increase this further)
Resilience: fixed at 100
Recovery: fixed to around 60
As a part of this rework, the base recharge rates of all abilities have been changed to work with the new system.
At 0-30 stat, that ability will recharge slower than it used to, but at 70-100, it will recharge faster
"Chunk" energy gains like Demolitionist and recharge scalars like Crown of Tempests will also be scaled by stat investment; at 70, they'll match the current values and surpass them up to 100, but below 70 they'll have less value than what we have now
Exotic armor will have its stats redistributed to use the new Armor 3.0 systems, which should reduce the time you have to grind for them. Notably, there will be a limited form of exotic focusing at Ada-1 which will let you have an exotic drop with some influence over its stats. This is only available for the Year of Prophecy(Edge of Fate and Renegades). Also, Exotic Class Items will be updated to have stats(All Class Items have stats in this new system, BTW) based on the perk rolls they have. More details on this will come later.
Notably, during the preview event, they played with some nerfs to several Prismatic Aspects, in particular reducing the amount of fragment slots. After listening to creator feedback, this is the conclusion they came to. Note: these are only for the Prismatic version of these aspects. Also note that these changes are not final and are still being tested:
Prismatic Titan
Consecration 3 -> 2 slots
Prismatic Hunter
Ascension 3 -> 2 slots
Winter’s Shroud 3 -> 2 slots
Prismatic Warlock
Hellion 3-> 2 slots
Bleak Watcher 3 -> 2 slots
Then, they talked about how Prophecy is the dungeon in rotation for Rite of the Nine until June 17th. Here is the rest of the calendar:
From June 17 onward, all dungeons will be available at any difficulty:
Week of June 17: increased currency drops active for all dungeons
From June 24 until July 8, one dungeon will have increased currency rewards:

From July 8 until July 15, a "lootapalooza" will begin:
Increased currency rewards and weapon drops from enemies in all dungeons
We will turn on a new way to spend your Nonary Manifold currency
Then, they went over the rotation for Adepts leading up to The Edge of Fate. Notably, Adepts will be going away in favor of the Gear Tiering system, so this is your last chance to earn Adepts seemingly ever. Make sure to complete your collection.

Then, they talked about the new and old cosmetics and items available during Pride Month.
For the first time ever, we have pride-themed shaders!
There is a rainbow shader available via a code; you can click this link to auto-redeem it or use code D6T-3JR-CKX on your own terms. After that, pick it up from the Special Deliveries kiosk near Rahool in the Tower.
There is also a pack of 4 more pride shaders available for 800 Silver. For every purchase, a $5.50 donation will be sent to the Advocates for Trans Equality Education Fund.
As there has been in previous years, there's a pride pin available at the Bungie Store, which comes with an emblem. For each purchase, $7 will be donated to IGB. The emblem on its own can also be acquired through a $10 donation via the Bungie Foundation.
Also, get the Rainbow Connection emote with code TK7-D3P-FDF, and the End of the Rainbow transmat with code R9J-79M-J6C.
That's a lot and there's more to come, but that's all for this week!
